July 10, 2007 To All “AA” Legion Coaches, As you know, this year’s State “AA” Legion
Baseball Tournament will be held in Billings at Cobb Field.
In preparation for the tournament we have blocked out 10
rooms for each team at the Billings Hotel and Convention Center.
They have given us a special rate of $69 per room plus tax
and surcharge. This is
a pretty good rate at a good hotel.
You may book rooms wherever you like but Billings can
sometimes have a room shortage during the summer months so I suggest
you book as soon as you know you have qualified for the tournament.
The rooms will be held until July 27th and you
call Lacey Sullivan at 406-867-8193 to make your reservations. The opening banquet will be held on Friday,
August 3rd at the Billings Hotel at 6 PM.
The guest speaker will be Rob Bishop the head coach of Miles
City Community College.
All team members and coaches will not be charged for the banquet,
but any parents or fans that want to attend will be charged $25.00
if they book in advance or $30.00 if they purchase at the door.

Ahlgren and his number is listed below.
We would appreciate knowing in advance the number of parents
or fans that will attend the banquet in order to let the hotel know
the total number of people that will be eating. The games will begin on Saturday, August 4th
at 9 AM. Bracketing
will be provided to you prior to your arrival.
Batting practice may be taken in the cages at Cobb Field or
you may use our alternate site at Pirtz Field.
Pirtz Field has two full size batting cages that can be
broken into 4 batting tunnels as well as the playing surface with a
turtle. You will need
to make reservations with Bob Emard (phone number below) to use
Pirtz so that he is there to unlock the facility and you will have
to coordinate with your opposing coach in order to avoid confusion
at Pirtz. No batting
practice will be allowed on Cobb Field prior to any game but
everyone will be able to take infield prior to the game. There is an official state tournament website
that will be carrying live scoring during then tournament as well as
other information as needed.
